Abstract
Designed synthesis of nanomaterials is important to fully exploit their unique properties. However, previous understanding on the nanocrystal formation process is very limited. In this talk, I will talk about the nanocrystal formation and their applications in optoelectronics. I will discuss the formation mechanism of colloidal nanocrystals, focusing on prenucleation nanoclusters. I will show the use of in-situ liquid phase transmission electron microscopy for studying nanocrystal formation. In addition, I will present the design of nanocrystal quantum dots for optoelectronic devices such as solar cells and light-emitting diodes.
