Abstract
After the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant disaster, the demand drastically increased for efficient removal of radioactive cesium. Prussian Blue(PB) has been considered as a promising adsorbent material of radiowaste due to high seleltivity and nontoxicity. Recently, many researchers have attempted to combine variety substrates and PB to obtain improved degradation capability for radiowaste. For the first time, we prove that a TiO2 photocatalyst can considerably enhance cesium adsorption by Prussian blue-TiO2 composites(PB-TiO2) under UV irradiation. In this study, we prepared prussian blue deposited TiO2(PB-TiO2) using the photodeposition method. The prepared samples were characterized by TEM, XRD, zeta potential measurement, XPS. To measure the capacity of cesium removal, first, we adsorbed cesium ion on PB-TiO2 in darkness and then, we exposed the PB-TiO2 to UV light irradiation.
