TRY AND DISCOVER NEW TECHNIQUE THAT WILL INTRODUCE NEW PHYSICS
DON'T THINK TOO MUCH, JUST TRY
Dr. Dong Su Lee, who was my co-adviser during my Ph.D degree and a former group member of vK & Jurgen group, accidentally discovered a new technique to capture compressible quantum dots surrounded by incompressible sea. We used this technique to reveal fractional quantum Hall nature in bilayer graphene (See above nice picture. It is not a beauty contest). Like this, when we approach to see deep physics, sometimes we can introduce new measurement scheme, for example, transconductance fluctuation, tunneling spectroscopy (not scanning), lithium intercalation using ceramic substrate, hydrostatic pressure cell and so on. Also, I hope we will discover new scheme accidentally or intentionally. Of course, since device fabrication part needs improvement forever (never end), we will continue to upgrade our fabricating procedure and introduce bit tricks like vacuum transfer stage, ELVACITE stamp, AFM ironing, and mechanical tape lift-off.
