Abstract
Directional emission in a cardioid-shaped microcavity is investigated. When a microcavity laser deformed from a circular shape in polar coordinate is excited by current injection, it emits unidirectionally at a certain deformation parameter. We confirm the emission characteristics in an InGaAsP semiconductor laser. © 2015 IEEE.
