본 학위논문은 생체 계면 안정성, 미세공정 호환성, 소재 및 공정 강건성이 확장된 차세대 나노메쉬 전자소자의 설계 방향을 제시하며, 삽입형 전기치료 소자, 웨어러블 헬스케어, 인간–기계 인터페이스, 실시간 환경 모니터링을 위한 통기성·밀착형·다기능 전자소자 플랫폼으로의 발전 가능성을 제시한다.|Polymer nanomesh electronics have emerged as promising platforms for next-generation wearable and biointegrated devices because of their breathability, mechanical softness, ultrathin form factor, and conformal contact with nonplanar biological surfaces. Their porous fibrous networks allow gas, moisture, and fluid transport while minimizing mechanical mismatch with skin and tissues, making them attractive for long-term electronic skin, implantable electroceuticals, biosignal monitoring, and environmental sensing. However, despite these advantages, conventional polymer nanomesh electronics are still limited by unstable long-term coupling at dynamic biointerfaces, poor compatibility with high-resolution microfabrication, restricted thermal and chemical stability, and insufficient material-integration capability. These limitations have hindered the expansion of polymer nanomeshes from passive breathable substrates to advanced functional electronic platforms. This thesis presents engineering strategies to overcome the biointerface, fabrication, and material- integration constraints of polymer nanomesh electronics. First, a tissue-adaptive polyimide nanomesh bioelectrode was developed for implantable electroceutical stimulation. Compared with conventional film- based interfaces, the PI nanomesh provided enhanced tissue conformability, improved interfacial adhesion, reduced fibrotic response, and more stable electrical coupling during long-term implantation. When applied to a rabbit calvarial defect model, the nanomesh-based electroceutical device promoted bone regeneration more effectively than film-based stimulation systems, demonstrating the importance of mechanically adaptive biointerfaces for chronic therapeutic electronics. Second, an indirect transfer-printing strategy using a titanium nitride sacrificial layer was developed to integrate high-resolution Au electrodes onto thermoplastic nanomesh substrates. By separating photolithographic microfabrication from the fragile nanomesh surface, fine electrode patterns could be realized without damaging the porous structure, enabling breathable nanoelectrodes with improved pattern resolution and electrical performance. Third, a thermally reinforced graphene nanowall nanomesh was developed by combining parylene-coated PI nanomeshes with a SiO2 nucleation layer, enabling direct plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition of vertically oriented graphene nanowalls (GNWs) on a three-dimensional polymer fibrous scaffold. This hierarchical 3D-on-3D architecture enhanced NO2 sensing performance through improved molecular accessibility, edge-rich adsorption, and confined transport pathways, and its practical applicability was demonstrated using a smart mask platform for real-time wearable toxic gas monitoring. Together, these studies demonstrate that the fundamental constraints of polymer nanomesh electronics can be addressed through platform-level material, structural, and process engineering. The tissue-adaptive PI nanomesh bioelectrode exploits mechanical softness and porosity to achieve stable long-term biointerfaces, transfer printing overcomes the patterning limitation of porous polymer substrates, and GNW nanomeshes expand the material compatibility of polymer nanomeshes toward advanced carbon nanoarchitectures. These approaches collectively transform polymer nanomeshes from mechanically compliant supports into multifunctional electronic platforms capable of chronic biointegration, high-resolution patterning, and wearable environmental sensing. This thesis provides a design framework for advanced nanomesh electronics with expanded biointerface stability, fabrication compatibility, and material/process robustness, offering a pathway toward breathable, conformal, and multifunctional devices for implantable electroceuticals, wearable healthcare, human–machine interfaces, and real-time environmental monitoring.
