본 발명은 얼굴 자세 추정 장치 및 얼굴 자세 추정 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 얼굴 자세 추정 장치는, 영상으로부터 특징점을 추출하는 추출부 및 상기 특징점이 갖는 좌표와 근접하는 m개(m은 3개 이상의 자연수)의 코드워드를, 코드북으로부터 식별하고, 상기 m개의 코드워드를 이용하여, 상기 특징점을, 상기 영상 내 얼굴 자세 인식에 관한 부호화 코드로 부호화하는 처리부를 포함할 수 있다.
