The Jeong Lab focuses on the structural cellular biochemistry of membrane protein using cryo-EM, cryo-ET and complementary biochemical and biophysical approaches.
We study how membrane proteins, such as ion channels and transporters, function in the cellular context, and how their structures enable precise communication with other proteins to regulate cellular processes.
Beyond individual membrane proteins, we are interested in a wide range of dynamic and emergent phenomena at biological membranes. Using in situ cryo-ET, we seek to visualize these processes directly in their native cellular context and extract mechanistic meaning from the resulting structural landscapes.
