Abstract
This paper proposes a low complexity MUltiple SIgnal Classifier (MUSIC) algorithm for frequency modulated continuous wave radar algorithm for surveillance applications. First, the proposed algorithm detects 3 dB bandwidth of the spectrum for range detection in order to check whether it is single target of multiple targets. In the case of single target, MUSIC algorithm is not employed because the detection with high resolution is not required. On the other hand, when it is determined that it is multiple targets based on 3 dB bandwidth, the proposed algorithm employs MUSIC algorithm in order to distinguish adjacent multiple targets. By doing so, the proposed algorithm significantly reduces the complexity while achieving the similar performance compared to the conventional MUSIC algorithm.
