- Abstract
- Automotive embedded systems are a typical safety-critical system. If safety system encounters an abnormal
behavior during system operation, it may cause serious injury to people. Therefore, it should be designed to detect
faults and external intrusions from the design phase. In addition, software in automotive system is becoming
complex and important as autonomous vehicle and electric car technologies are applied. In order to design such
complex and safety related software, AUTOSAR (AUTomotive Open Software Architecture) software platform
should be applied and the safety requirements of ISO26262 should be satisfied. When designing safety-critical
system, there are three basic considerations for detecting faults and external intrusions such as memory protection,
timing protection and communication protection. In this study, we introduce the software safety design of the
automotive brake system which is one of the most safety critical system.
