Abstract

Single-microfiber electronic devices require conductive pathways that can be selectively formed on curved polymeric surfaces without planar lithography or high-temperature processing. Here, we present a maskless laser direct-writing strategy for fabricating laser-written silver (Ag) electrodes on a single-microfiber platform. A nylon microfiber was coated with a styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS)-based composite containing silver trifluoroacetate (AgTFA) and Rhodamine B (RhB). Under 532 nm laser irradiation, RhB acted as a laser- responsive optical absorber, enabling localized activation of the AgTFA-based coating and forming Ag-rich pathways along the laser-written region. The effects of RhB concentration, AgTFA concentration, laser power, and scan speed were optimized to balance conductive network formation and thermal-diffusion-induced pattern broadening. Optical, thermal, chemical, electrical, and morphological analyses confirmed RhB-assisted photothermal activation and continuous laser-written Ag electrode formation. The fabricated electrodes exhibited tunable microscale geometries, stable electrical properties, and mechanical reliability under bending and cyclic deformation. For device demonstration, capacitor-type structures and a resistor-capacitor (RC) low- pass filter were integrated on a single microfiber. The RC filter showed a cutoff frequency of approximately 0.63 MHz and a roll-off slope of −18 to −20 dB dec⁻¹, close to the ideal first-order RC response. The deviation from the theoretical cutoff frequency was attributed to probe capacitance comparable to the picofarad-level microfiber capacitor. These results demonstrate that laser direct writing can transform a single microfiber into a mechanically compliant platform for passive fiber-shaped electronic devices.|본 논문은 레이저 직접쓰기 공정을 이용하여 단일 마이크로파이버 표면에 미세 은 전극을 선택적으로 형성하는 방법을 제안한다.
