기분 장애 예방 또는 치료를 위한 Npas4 유전자 및 이를 이용한 스크리닝 방법에 관한 것으로, 일 양상에 따르면, Npas4(neuronal PAS domain protein 4) 단백질의 발현 또는 활성 억제제를 유효성분으로 포함하는, 기분 장애의 예방 또는 치료용 약학적 조성물, 및 Npas4 유전자를 이용하여 기분장애의 치료제를 스크리닝하는 방법을 제공한다.
