dc.description.abstract The present invention relates to a method for determining a decrease in the functions of the hippocampus by using the correlation between a micro RNA (miRNA) and an N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR), a method for inhibiting the decrease in the functions, and a method for screening for inhibitors of the decrease in the functions. The present invention confirms that miR-204, among miRNAs up-regulated in an aged hippocampus, decreases the expression of EphB2, by accurately targeting EphB2, which is an important regulatory receptor, resulting in a decrease in the neuronal surface expression of an NR1 subunit of an NMDAR in hippocampal nerves and a decrease in the density of dendrites, thereby having an effect of determining whether the functions of the hippocampus are decreased, by using the correlation between a miRNA and an NMDAR, and furthermore, has an effect of providing a method for inhibiting the decrease in the functions of the hippocampus, and a method for screening for inhibitors of the decrease in the functions. -
